The above appointments indicate that he was engaged in coastal patrols in the North Sea in seaplane squadrons and in the Dardanelles in No.3 Wing operating from Imbros with the seaplanes from Ark Royal during the withdrawal from Gallipoli, and carrying out reconnaissance flights in the Salonika area.
His period in No.9 Sqdn was in fighter duties from Dunkirk on the Western Front with the R.F.C.
It is believed that he may have been on the Staff in North Russia when he was accidentally killed on 29 December 1918 but details have not been traced.

Note: Captain Fawcett was a passenger with G.V. Wildman - Lushington when they crashed at Eastchurch on 2 December 1913 in a Maurice Farman. Captain Wildman-Lushington was killed but Fawcett was only slightly hurt.
