Giddy was one of the 19 R.M. Officers who responded to A.FO. 1058/24 and volunteered for flying training in 1924.

Apart from normal appointments in first line Flights there is no record available. He had two periods of flying duty, the last in 1933 when he reverted finally to Corps Duties.

He retired on 12 September 1947 and died on 29 August 1974.
