After the Great War during which he was still under training, he served in H.M.S. Emperor of India in the Black Sea during the Bolshevik rising in South Russia in 1919 and 1920. Subsequently he was serving in "Cleopatra" (Mediterranean Fleet) in 1924 when he was one of the first of 19 RM Officers to volunteer for flying duties in the Fleet Air Arm.

After training at Netheravon and Leuchars he qualified as a Torpedo Pilot and was serving at R.A.F. Gosport when he was killed in a flying accident on 17 August 1926.
